Personality shift

A personality shift is the transition of a character's personality from a broad idea to a finer definition which integrates better into the working canon. Typically, personality shifts happen naturally over time as the character's author understands their character better, usually with some amount of relatability between them and the character.

Characters in The Lore, while aware of the concept, aren't able to directly control it or "feel" it, as such a change is gradual and usually drawn out over long periods of time. Importantly, older personalities remain canon to the time period they were relevant, rather than being retconned.
