All parts of a sentence are elements (▫). Punctuation are extensions of elements which convey progression, mood, and structure. In plaintext formulas, suspense and declaration use ; and : rather than their regular symbols.

Elements may be linked and grouped together in various ways. In particular, sentences are broken into passages (notated in parentheses) and sets (notated in square brackets). Passages can contain sets and punctuation, while sets can only contain punctuation.

| ▫·▫ | Line with ring | Essence | Defines a punctuation or set as having the "essence" of another, typically qualitatively or tonally, without progressing the passage or set, i.e !? is an exclamative interrogative while !·? is an exclamative that has the qualities of an interrogative without presenting it. |
