From Element Cattos

All parts of a sentence are elements (▫). Punctuation are extensions of elements which convey progression, mood, and structure. In plaintext formulas, suspense and declaration use ; and : rather than their regular symbols.

Punctuation
Symbol Category Qualities Name
! Surprise Exclamative, interjective, imperative, rising tone Qossium
? Mystery Interrogative, linking, falling tone Qharium
, Suspense Climactic, progressive, held Saenum
. Declaration Declarative, objective, actionable Planum

Elements may be linked and grouped together in various ways. In particular, sentences are broken into passages (notated in parentheses) and sets (notated in square brackets). Passages can contain sets and punctuation, while sets can only contain punctuation.

Linkages (shown between ▫)
Symbol Diagram Type Description
▫▫ Straight line Group Links multiple punctuation together, e.g !?. Typically the qualities are equal, but may be biased in favor of the anion, e.g !? versus ?!.
▫›▫ Line with chevron Progression Defines a punctuation or set as being after the next, typically with a relation. The anion has the ability to define and/or clarify the cation or vice versa, which must be notated with an asterisk.
▫+▫ Line with vertical bar Relation Defines a punctuation or set as being related to the next, typically in a sequential manner or as part of a larger prose/passage. The anion has the ability to define and/or clarify the cation or vice versa, which must be notated with an asterisk.
▫·▫ Line with ring Essence Defines a punctuation or set as having the "essence" of another, typically qualitatively or tonally, without progressing the passage or set, i.e !? is an exclamative interrogative while !·? is an exclamative that has the qualities of an interrogative without presenting it.
▫⋯▫ Dashed line Continuation Continues a prose without linking elements together.
